Practicing a solo slowly without it sounding off

The classic practice trick: slow down a difficult passage until your fingers can keep up. The problem with many players: simply playing back slower also pulls the pitch down — at 75% tempo, the song sounds almost a fourth lower. Useless for playing along, because your tuning no longer matches.

Tempo down, pitch unchanged

The solution is time-stretching: tempo is stretched, pitch stays the same. Our player does this pitch-preserving for all tracks at once — you practice a passage at 65% and still play along in the original key.

How to practice this way

  • Set an A/B loop around exactly the tricky bars (bar-accurate, down to the 16th note).
  • Go to the tempo where you play cleanly — better slow and correct than fast and sloppy.
  • Increase the tempo in small steps until you’re at the original.

That’s exactly what our practice mode is built for: loop, slow-down, and your material all in one place — instead of ten unstructured WhatsApp videos.

Try it yourself.
